Australia: Two Sparke Helmore finalists in Lawyers Weekly 30 under 30 Awards

Sparke Helmore Lawyers is delighted to announce that Senior Associate Ian Bennett from our Workplace Group and Lawyer Veronica Seeto from our Government Group have been selected as finalists in the Lawyers Weekly 2016 30 Under 30 Awards.

Ian has been nominated in the Workplace Relations, Employment & Safety category and Veronica in the Government category.

Sydney Workplace Partner and Board member, Carlie Holt, who supported Ian's nomination said: "Ian is a fantastic lawyer and a fantastic person. Everyone in the Workplace Group is absolutely thrilled for him. He really deserves to be on this list."

Special Counsel in the Government Group and Veronica's colleague, Holly McAdam, had this to say: "We are delighted to see Veronica's hard work, skills and professionalism recognised in this way. She is a much valued team member who really deserves to have made the list".

Ian is an experienced workplace lawyer from our Sydney office who advises and represents both public and private sector clients across a range of industries including construction, retail, utilities, transport and health sectors. He assists clients with a range of workplace issues that may arise including discrimination, long-term absenteeism, bullying and harassment, fitness for duties, dismissal disputes, industrial instrument interpretation, policy and procedure development, and WHS investigation and prosecution.

Veronica is a commercial government lawyer from our Canberra office with experience in complex procurement and strategic contracting matters. As part of our major projects team, she works closely with our senior team members on a range of Commonwealth Government matters. Veronica has also been providing commercial and contracting support on a secondment basis over the past 12 months to the Aerospace division of the Department of Defence's CASG.

Now in its fourth year, the 30 Under 30 Awards recognise Australia's high achieving lawyers under the age of 30 across 10 categories. Criteria for selection in the 30 Under 30 Awards include career achievements, leadership skills, involvement in external associations, contribution to practice group success and an understanding of the legal market. The Awards night will be held at the Ivy Ballroom in Sydney on 24 June 2016.
