United States: Brooks Kushman Attorney To Discuss Patent Protection At Detroit Small Business Legal Academy

DETROIT, Mich. - David C. Berry, Of Counsel at Brooks Kushman, PC in Southfield Michigan, is scheduled to be the moderator and a presenter on a panel discussing patent and intellectual property during the 2016 Small Business Legal Academy (SBLA16) for Detroit's entrepreneurs and start-up businesses. Brooks Kushman is also a law firm sponsor of SBLA16.

SBLA16 is a free public event that is part of the 2016 Detroit Entrepreneur Week (DEW16) and will occur at the Wayne State University Law School, 471 West Palmer, Detroit, on Saturday, May 7, 2016, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. SBLA16 consists of a series of hands-on panels designed to provide practical legal and professional information necessary for new business owners and entrepreneurs to take their businesses to the next level. Berry will moderate a panel discussion on intellectual property issues for start-up companies and discuss the importance of a patent protection strategy for technology-based startups. The panel discussion will be presented at 9:30 AM and repeated at 11:00, and also will cover copyright, trademark, and trade secret protection.

Berry is a registered patent attorney. He currently is chair-elect of the State Bar of Michigan Intellectual Property Law Section and is adjunct professor at Wayne State University Law School, where he teaches the law school's Patent Procurement Clinic program. He also is Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Western Michigan University – Cooley Law School in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
