United States: Bill Lee And Co-Author Doug Melamed Honored With Academic Article Award At 2016 Antitrust Writing Awards
Last Updated: April 13 2016

On April 5, 2016, Bill Lee and his co-author Douglas Melamed were the recipients of an Academic Articles Award at the 2016 Antitrust Writing Awards Gala Dinner, an event organized by Concurrences Review and The George Washington University Law School's Competition Law Center. Lee and Melamed won the award for their article, "Breaking the Vicious Cycle of Patent Damages," which Cornell Law Review published last year.

The Academic Articles Awards reward the best articles published in peer-reviewed journals and are aimed at promoting antitrust scholarship. One-hundred articles were selected by the Editorial Committee, with the Academic Steering Committee and readers nominating 20 of the articles. The board later elected the 10 winning articles, which included Lee and Melamed's piece.

In addition to this winning article, the 2016 Antitrust Writing Awards shortlisted two WilmerHale-authored articles, including: "Foreign Component Cartels and the US Antitrust Laws: A First Principle Approach," by Lee Greenfield, Perry Lange, Steve Cherry and Jackie Stanley in the Business Articles Award category; and "Intellectual Ventures v Capital One: Can Antitrust Law and Economics Get Us Past the Trolls?," by Michelle Miller and economist Janusz Ordover in the Academic Articles Award category.
