United States: Law360 Names Colin Dougherty Among Employment Rising Stars
Last Updated: April 6 2016

Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Colin D. Dougherty has been recognized as an "Employment Rising Star" by Law360. The annual list features attorneys under the age of 40 who are considered the powerhouses of employment law.

Dougherty was noted for a recent string of victories in the hotly contested area of wage-and-hour litigation – specifically disputes over the classification of workers as independent contractors. He handled a high-profile case on behalf of DirecTV in which a group of workers alleged that the company and its contractor, DirectSat USA LLC, misclassified technicians as independent contractors to avoid paying overtime and other benefits. The case was successfully dismissed.

An experienced litigator, Dougherty handles a range of employment and complex commercial disputes. He regularly represents clients across the United States in the telecommunications, staffing, construction, insurance, cable/satellite television and health care industries in class action defense, wage and hour litigation, insurance disputes, health care litigation and construction law, among others. He also handles matters in the areas of e-discovery, appellate and employee privacy and background checks.

Additionally, Dougherty counsels clients on compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage and hour laws.

Dougherty earned his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and his B.S. from Cornell University.
