Bermuda: Conyers Announces Six Promotions

Conyers Dill & Pearman announced the appointment of six lawyers from the Firm's Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong offices effective 1 April 2016.

The following lawyers have been appointed to Partner/Director: Sophia Greaves (Director), Niel Jones (Director) and Scott Pearman (Director) from the Bermuda office; and Paul Lim (Partner) from the Hong Kong office. Patrick Ormond from the BVI office and Norman Hau from the Hong Kong office were appointed to Counsel.

Sophia Greaves
Sophia joined Conyers in 2010 from Barlow Lyde & Gilbert LLP, where she worked in their London and Hong Kong offices. Her practice spans a number of specialisations, with particular emphasis on securitizations, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance and corporate (re)insurance transactions, including the formation, licensing and ongoing regulatory requirements for Bermuda (re)insurers. Sophia advises public companies, (re)insurers and leading financial institutions. Sophia has been appointed a Justice of the Peace.

Niel Jones
Niel joined the Firm in 2005, his practice covers corporate and commercial law, banking and finance, capital markets, aviation and M&A. Niel advises financial institutions, multinational corporations and private equity groups on cross border and multi-jurisdictional transactions including financings, restructurings, public offerings and mergers and acquisitions.

Scott Pearman
Scott joined Conyers in 2012 from Ely Place Chambers in London, where he was a barrister for 13 years specialising in commercial litigation. Scott provides advocacy and advice on all aspects of civil and commercial law, with a focus on dispute resolution relating to business and commerce, employment and discrimination, chancery and trust, (re)insurance, arbitration, and the law relating to media and information. Scott is also a CEDR accredited Mediator, he has mediated in the UK and other international markets.


Patrick Ormond
Patrick joined Conyers in 2012. Patrick has a broad corporate practice, advising on corporate finance, public and private M&A, private equity and joint ventures, IPOs, debt and equity capital raisings, restructurings, partnerships. With a background as a dedicated banking and finance lawyer in London prior to joining Conyers, Patrick has particular expertise in banking and finance transactions, advising lenders and borrowers on a wide variety of secured and unsecured finance transactions including leveraged finance, acquisition finance, property finance, project finance, asset based finance and Islamic finance.


Paul Lim
Paul joined Conyers in 2007. Paul's practice covers all aspects of corporate and commercial law, banking and finance work, debt capital markets, M&A work, mortgage backed securities transactions, MTN Programmes, Tender Offers, Consent Solicitations, corporate restructuring and liability management exercises, including pre-IPO equity and debt financings, initial public offerings of shares in the Hong Kong, London, and the US exchanges involving Cayman Islands, Bermuda and British Virgin Islands companies. He has been involved in a number of significant debt capital markets transactions. These transactions have involved Cayman Islands, Bermuda and the British Virgin Islands property infrastructure companies listed on the Hong Kong exchange, including PRC utility and energy State Owned Enterprises.

Norman Hau
Norman joined the Firm in 2012. Norman is an experienced litigator. His practice covers all types of contentious matters, and focuses on restructuring and insolvency and shareholders' dispute matters. He advises private equity houses, liquidators and corporate and individual shareholders typically regarding companies having financial/management difficulties. Norman also advises investors or management in disputes involving investment funds. Norman is a regular speaker for HKICPA in its insolvency/restructuring introductory course.
