Australia: Norton Rose Fulbright grows construction and engineering team with partner in Brisbane
Last Updated: 9 February 2016

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright announced today that experienced construction and engineering disputes lawyer Peter Lamont has joined as a partner in Brisbane.

Mr Lamont is a respected advisor to the mining, construction and projects sectors, with a particular focus on the oil and gas industry. He has acted on a number of Australia's largest oil and gas-related disputes and has delivered commercial advisory work for principals, contractors and consultants on many major projects throughout Australia.

Mr Lamont joins Norton Rose Fulbright from the construction, infrastructure and major projects group at Clayton Utz. He recently has advised and been acting for the ASX and LSE- listed owners of two of the three largest CSG to LNG projects in the southern hemisphere

Norton Rose Fulbright Managing Partner in Australia, Wayne Spanner, said the appointment of Mr Lamont would add further depth to our national construction and engineering team, as well as to two of our six global priority industry areas in Energy and Infrastructure, Mining and Commodities.

"The Asia Pacific region's energy, mining and infrastructure industries have a vibrant future and we see significant opportunities for many of our local and international clients," Mr Spanner said. "The addition of someone of Peter's calibre to our busy Brisbane and national construction and engineering teams will deepen our talent pool and support for our clients."

Mr Lamont commented:

"The delivery and operation of some of the world's largest CSG to LNG projects in Australia, and the increasing focus of international and domestic companies on the Asia Pacific oil and gas industry, was a driving force behind my decision to join an elite global law firm with a highly respected construction and engineering team."

Norton Rose Fulbright in Australia added eight other lateral partners in the last year: John Elliott, Andrea Rezos, Emanuel Confos, Benny Bernarto (Jakarta), Nadia Soraya (Jakarta), Mark Attard, Brett Solomon and Global Head of our Energy practice Simon Currie (from Norton Rose Fulbright in London).
