United States: Latham & Watkins Lends Pro Bono Support To NYC2012 Olympic Bid
Last Updated: September 20 2004

New York, September 20, 2004. Michael Kuh, an attorney in Latham & Watkins' New York office, has been seconded to NYC2012, the New York City Olympic Bid Committee, as Of Counsel. Kuh will be providing knowledge and experience to New York's Olympic Bid, related to government relations as well as legal questions posed by the International Olympic Committee to the New York Bid.

During the campaign, Kuh will be working with Jay L. Kriegel, Executive Director of NYC2012, and Andrew H. Kimball, Director of Operations of NYC2012, to complete the formal submission of the bid to the International Olympic Committee. Kuh’s full time involvement will compliment the pro bono work being done by the Bid’s impressive Legal Advisory Group, an assembly of more than forty of the nation’s top law firms who have unified behind New York City’s Bid Committee.

From 1994 to 1998, Kuh worked in New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani's administration, focusing primarily on economic development work, but also on emergency management, privatization issues, and city planning.

"I am delighted to part of this historic initiative and look forward to working closely with colleagues on the advisory panel and the staff at NYC2012," said Kuh. "This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in what we hope will be a momentous result for a great city. Already the bid’s work has had a positive impact on the City."

"We have had a long-standing pro bono commitment to NYC2012. We are proud to be associated with the bid, and Michael will be a great addition to the very strong and dynamic NYC2012 team," said Jim Kearney, Chair of Latham’s Pro Bono Committee.

New York is competing against four other cities for the right to host the Olympic Games in 2012: London, Madrid, Moscow, and Paris. The IOC will name the Host City for the 2012 Games on July 6, 2005 in Singapore.
