United States: Fox Rothschild Creates HIPAA Privacy Officer Role
Last Updated: January 28 2016

Elizabeth G. Litten was featured in The Legal Intelligencer article, "Fox Rothschild Creates HIPAA Privacy Officer Role." Full text can be found in the January 22, 2016, issue, but a synopsis is below.

Fox Rothschild LLP has recently named Elizabeth Litten as the firm's HIPAA Privacy Officer. Litten will be tasked with protecting the firm's sensitive health information that is received from clients and employees.

"We always thought that with an active health care practice, we are bound to have a certain amount of [protected health information] and we want to do everything we can to avoid a breach," Litten said.

The firm found it important to separate the role from other security positions due to the complexity and sensitivity of protecting health information.

"We treat all information as confidential of course, but there is an added layer of protection when it comes to HIPAA," Litten said.
