United States: Kirsch To Teach Two IP Classes During Spring 2016 Semester
Last Updated: January 12 2016

Gregory J. Kirsch, SGR partner and Head of the firm's Intellectual Property (IP) Department, will once again teach two classes as an adjunct law professor during the Spring 2016 semester.  The first class, "Patent Practice and Procedure" will be co-taught for 2 credit hours by Kirsch at Emory University Law School.  The class, which meets once per week throughout the semester, teaches law students who have an interest in becoming patent attorneys the practical skills required to represent clients with respect to patent applications at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and through the use of various patent treaties at patent offices around the world.  Kirsch and a colleague originally developed the class and the materials used in it from scratch 15 years ago, and he has been teaching the class at Emory Law ever since.  Kirsch has taught various classes as an adjunct professor of IP law at Emory Law for nearly 20 years.

The second class being taught by Kirsch is entitled "Intellectual Property Protection for Computer Software", which he teaches each year at Washington University School of Law, in St. Louis.  This latter 1 credit hour class is taught over the course of a long weekend, to primarily upper class law students, as well as MBA students. Through the review of case law, the use of case studies and polls, and the participation of guest lecturers, Kirsch engages the students in an interactive discussion of the various aspects of IP protection for computer software and related technologies.

SGR attorneys have an extensive and longstanding tradition of serving as adjunct professors at universities and colleges across the United States, as featured in our latest Trust the Leaders Magazine from the Summer of 2015.
