Canada: Mr. Mark Weintraub Appointed As Queen's Counsel
Last Updated: December 30 2015

We are proud to announce that Clark Wilson lawyer Mr. Mark Weintraub was recently appointed as Queen's Counsel (QC). The BC Lieutenant-Governor in Council, on the recommendation of the BC Attorney General, bestows this honorary title in recognition of Mr. Weintraub's exceptional merit and contribution to the legal profession.

Clark Wilson Managing Partner James Speakman reiterates this prestigious recognition: "Mr. Weintraub is an outstanding lawyer and tireless advocate for his clients. His work translates into tangible and workable solutions. He is a strong leader and uses his professional platform to benefit both the legal industry and the greater community."

Mr. Weintraub is the firm's senior estate and trust litigator. He is a frequent presenter and author on issues related to estate and trust litigation and adult guardianship issues. Mr. Weintraub acts as counsel in a wide spectrum of litigation, such as Wills Variation Act claims, negligent or fraudulent estate administration and wills and trusts interpretation, as well as committeeships, power of attorney disputes and claims including elder abuse.

Through his professional and philanthropic work, Mr. Weintraub is dedicated to helping the community. He is a leading and consistent voice in the Jewish and other communities, with a long list of accomplishments, particularly in the areas of human rights issues, hate crimes, civil liberties and indigenous rights. Among other things (and the list is very long), he provided leadership in raising international awareness of the genocide unfolding in the Darfur Region of Sudan, coordinated CJC Human Rights Tribunal complaints and proposals to the CRTC for combating hate on the Internet and was a representative to the Vancouver Forum to protect Chinese minorities in Indonesia. Mark was invited to be the keynote speaker to the 1999 Tokyo Conference on Japanese War Crimes committed against the Chinese population. His editorial entitled "Note the Power of One" from the Jewish Independent (May 20, 2005) recognized his instrumental role in raising Canadian and international awareness of that conflict and resulting in Canada's increased humanitarian aid of almost $200 million.

We are very proud that Mr. Weintraub has been awarded with this honour. His work, outlook and performance personify the criteria of the honour of Queen's Counsel.
