United States: Global Competition Review Names Heather Tewksbury A Top Antitrust Practitioner
Last Updated: December 29 2015

Global Competition Review (GCR) has selected Partner Heather Tewksbury to its 2015 edition of its 40 Under 40, a list of the top 40 young antitrust practitioners from around the world. As stated by GCR, "it's the work these lawyers have done in their home jurisdictions that has earned them a place. Indeed all of the nominated lawyers have worked on major mergers, cartel investigations and dominance cases."

GCR recognized Tewksbury for leading the firm's California cartel practice, her current representation of multinational corporations and executives in cross-border criminal and civil antitrust investigations and litigation, and for her portfolio of success as a trial attorney in the Antitrust Division of the US Department of Justice (DOJ) in San Francisco, where she handled some of the most significant investigations and criminal prosecutions brought by the agency in recent years.

During her interview with GCR, Tewksbury shared her thoughts on industry trends: "I think we will continue to see significant overlap in investigations both across jurisdictions and between the domestic agencies. With multiple jurisdictions, parallel civil and criminal investigations, and cross-agency emphasis, companies and individuals face significant hurdles in making sure that they are maximizing the leniency tools available to them without sacrificing the ability to aggressively defend themselves."

Also this year, Chambers USA recognized Tewksbury as having "made an impressive name for herself in the cartel space, having held a significant position within the DOJ's antitrust division prior to her joining the firm in 2014." Clients also heaped praise, describing her as "tenacious in the defense of a case" and "a really outstanding trial lawyer."
