United States: Silicon Valley Partner, Peter F. Kerman, Appointed Global Corporate Department Chair
Last Updated: July 26 2004

Silicon Valley, July 26, 2004. Latham & Watkins LLP1 is pleased to announce that Peter F. Kerman has been appointed the new Global Chair of Latham’s Corporate Department. He succeeds Thomas C. Sadler who has completed his term in that position. Kerman has previously served in several management roles during his tenure at the firm, including his recent position as Office Managing Partner of the Silicon Valley office.

"We are deeply grateful to Tom who has done an excellent job in leading our largest department through a demanding business climate," said Bob Dell, Chairman and Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins. "Despite the economic conditions, Tom led the Department’s substantial expansion in Europe and Asia, guided the department to outstanding showings in the league tables over the years, and strengthened the various practice groups. I am delighted that Pete will take over this role as he is a tremendous leader and will continue the success of the department."

Kerman joined Latham & Watkins after graduating from Harvard Law School, magna cum laude, in 1984. Kerman was initially resident in Latham’s Los Angeles office and then relocated to the San Francisco office in the early 90’s. He was part of the initial team that started Latham’s Silicon Valley office and has served as its first Office Managing Partner since its opening in 1997. During Kerman’s tenure, the Silicon Valley office has grown from 8 attorneys to its present size of over 65 attorneys. A leading lawyer in M&A, venture capital, start-ups and public company representation, Kerman has run some of the most complex transactions for the firm.

"The corporate department has a tradition of great leadership, with Tom’s tenure being the most recent example," said Kerman. "I look forward to the challenges of following that tradition as the corporate department continues to expand its geographic reach and its breadth of practices."
