NEW YORK, July 19 – Piper Rudnick LLP, a national law firm, announced today that highly regarded attorney John B. Duer (41) has joined its New York office as a partner. Prior to joining Piper Rudnick, Mr. Duer was counsel with Linklaters, a global law firm based in London, England.

"We are very pleased to welcome John to the firm," said Joseph G. Finnerty, Jr. "He brings significant experience in cross-border securities offerings, representing both investment banking clients and issuers. He is a wonderful addition to both the national corporate practice of the firm and our New York office."

Mr. Duer commented, "I am very pleased to join the team at Piper and to be part of such an incredibly dynamic firm. The practice area configuration here and the quality of the lawyers, particularly in the litigation, bankruptcy, M&A and tax areas, complement my practice very well. I am greatly looking forward to the opportunities ahead."

The firm’s Corporate and Securities practice is made up of over 120 lawyers in every major office of the firm.

Mr. Duer’s experience is in the representation of investment banking and issuer clients in all aspects of offerings of debt and equity securities and focuses on offerings of high-yield debt securities and leveraged acquisitions involving bridge or high-yield debt financings. His experience extends, among other things, to out-of-court restructuring and refinancing transactions involving high-yield debt securities (including exchange offers, tender offers and consent solicitations) and the representation of investment banking clients and issuers in the areas of securities law compliance and periodic reporting, as well as to a wide variety of debt and equity products. After receiving his law degree, he began his career in the New York office of Latham & Watkins. Subsequently, he joined the capital markets group at Linklaters to develop a cross-border high-yield and leveraged finance practice for that firm in Europe.
