Honourable Anthony Smellie QC, Chief Justice of The Cayman Islands said: "The authors are to be commended for undertaking this long overdue task of providing an up to date and authoritative practitioners' reference book on these subjects which will no doubt prove to be invaluable."

The Cayman Islands is a leading jurisdiction for offshore companies and commercial work, as well as the choice domicile to set-up an offshore financial centre. It has positioned itself as the number one destination for offshore legal operations. It is also the market leader in the formation of mutual funds – estimated to house about 75% of world's hedge funds and nearly half the industry's estimated US$1.1 trillion of assets under management. Cayman Islands vehicles are involved in all aspects of international commercial transactions including: private equity, IPOs, mergers & acquisitions, funds, insurance and corporate finance transactions.

This publication summarises a number of important recent cases decided by the Cayman Islands Courts in connection with shareholder rights, directors' duties, and insolvency. It also covers recent trends in Cayman Islands company law including IPOs of Cayman Islands companies and "go private" transactions and provides comprehensive coverage on the latest policies set by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority in relation to mutual funds.
