Strasburger & Price, LLP (Strasburger) is pleased to announce that Debra Gatison Hatter and Jeffrey J. Bates have joined the firm as partners. "The addition of these exceptionally skilled and talented attorneys will bolster Strasburger's already strong corporate and real estate practices and allow us to expand our exceptional service to clients across a number of industries," remarked Dan Butcher, managing partner. "We are pleased to welcome them to the firm."

Hatter, who will work in Strasburger's Houston office, focuses her practice on corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, debt and equity, financings, corporate governance, structuring and general business matters. She represents private equity funds, public companies and privately held businesses in a broad array of industries including energy, technology, telecommunications, waste management, retail and industrial services, in both domestic and international transactions. Her experience includes representing investors and sellers of businesses with a significant focus on technology assets and organizing joint ventures and other strategic partnering arrangements, including the governance aspects of these transactions. She also counsels clients on premerger regulatory compliance and filings under the competition laws (HSR Act) in U.S. based and cross-border transactions.

Hatter is admitted to practice in Texas, Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia and Maryland and is a member of the National and American Bar Associations. She was co-founder and former chair of the Mergers and Acquisitions Section of the Houston Bar Association. Hatter belongs to the Women's Energy Network Houston, is currently a director of Julia F. Thompson, Inc., and previously served as a director of the Houston Area Urban League. She received her J. D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1994 where she was editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. She holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

Bates will be based in the firm's Austin office, but often works on real estate projects in Houston and San Antonio. He practices in the commercial real estate arena and focuses on the sale, acquisition, disposition, leasing, financing and development of office, retail, industrial and energy facilities. He has represented landlords and tenants in large Class A office leases and corporate relocations as well as developers in the acquisition, financing, construction, development and leasing of complex mixed-use condominium developments. Bates also represents lenders and financial institutions in multi-state real estate commercial lending transactions. He drafts and negotiates construction and architect's agreements on AIA forms in connection with large mixed-use developments, high-end office space build outs and turnkey construction projects.

Bates is admitted to practice in Texas. He is a member of the Austin Bar Association and the Real Estate Council of Austin. He graduated from the University of Texas Law School with a J.D. in 2003 and received a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000, where he was in the Plan II Honors Program and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
