Last Updated: May 24 2004

Tellabs Inc., a maker of fiber-optic network equipment, agreed to buy Advanced Fibre Communications Inc. for $1.9 billion in cash and stock to become a supplier of equipment for services such as Internet access. San Francisco partner Blair White led a Pillsbury Winthrop team that represented Advanced Fibre in this high-profile deal. Advanced Fibre gives Tellabs a line of access equipment, which transports voice, video and Internet services from a phone company's network into homes and businesses. The combination creates an industry leader in access and transport solutions for the world's telecom service providers. For more details, please refer to the AFC, Inc. link.
