United States: High Profile Business Practitioner Chooses Pillsbury Winthrop’s Northern Virginia Office To Expand Practice

MCLEAN, VIRGINIA – Jay M. Tannon, former Corporate Partner Executive Committee member and Chair of the International Transactions and Government Relations practices at Frost Brown Todd LLC, has joined Pillsbury Winthrop’s Northern Virginia office as a partner. Tannon is a leading corporate practitioner and has counseled U.S., Canadian, Australian, European, and other domestic and international businesses, both public and private, on acquisitions, joint ventures, direct investments, product distribution and licensing arrangements. He has also served as general business counsel to many companies based outside the United States.

Tannon will be a member of Pillsbury Winthrop’s corporate and securities, international trade and private equity practice sections and will help lead the firm’s business practice in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. Tannon will also serve on the offices’ management committee.

Tannon’s experience includes the acquisition by one of the world's largest transportation companies of air cargo operations in 14 Latin American countries, the acquisition by a TSE-listed company of a NASDAQ-listed winery, and more than 100 other acquisitions and dispositions of various private and public companies.

Tannon is a three-term chair of the Kentucky World Trade Center, a member of the Services Advisory Committee for the U.S. Trade Representative, and immediate past Chair of the U.S. Department of Commerce District Export Council for Kentucky. He is also active in numerous other civic, professional and philanthropic organizations and recently helped launch a new U.S.-China commercial mediation service. Tannon is widely published on issues relating to U.S. and international trade and transactional matters.

Tannon received a J.D. from the University of Virginia, an MBA from the University of Louisville, and a B.A. from the University of North Carolina. He has participated in academic programs at Harvard University, Georgetown University, and the University of Toronto.
