Seasoned Litigator Chairs Enterprising Group

COSTA MESA, Ca--Pillsbury Winthrop LLP is pleased to report that partner Christine Scheuneman has been appointed to chair the firm's Orange County office litigation group. Pillsbury Winthrop's litigation group represents many of the nation's leading corporations, financial institutions and real estate companies, as well as many of the preeminent companies in Southern California. In her new role, Scheuneman, who joined the firm in 2002, will oversee a team of 13 litigators working on a wide range of corporate matters.

Scheuneman is a litigator and trial attorney with an extensive practice in complex business and commercial matters. Her practice includes antitrust, unfair business practices, securities, trade secrets and lender liability. She has represented real estate and finance clients in all aspects of their businesses, including joint venture and partnership disputes. Her practice also includes using litigation to improve client leverage to close transactions favorably or actualize asset exit strategies, as well as traditional real estate disputes. Scheuneman has served a number of public and private entity clients as outside counsel supervisor of their litigation matters nationally, and has served on the national arbitration panel of neutrals for the American Arbitration Association.

Scheuneman has handled over one hundred major litigation matters including the representation of a medical device company to protect its business from unfair business practices and damaging statements by a competitor; representing developer and joint venture partners in construction defect litigation involving 258 homes, 500 plaintiffs and more than 120 subcontractors; and representing a major financial institution in binding arbitration relating to the lease of its corporate headquarters facility, saving the client more than $6 million and resulting in a modified lease. In addition, she and her team were responsible for saving their clients many millions of dollars in punitive damages resulting from a runaway jury case tried by another firm.
