United States: Dickstein Shapiro Partner James R. Murray Inducted As A Fellow Into The American College Of Trial Lawyers
Last Updated: October 12 2015

(Washington, DC)—Dickstein Shapiro LLP is pleased to announce that Partner James R. Murray has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America. Mr. Murray was formally welcomed to the group during an induction ceremony at the College's 2015 annual meeting in Chicago.

Founded in 1950, the American College of Trial Lawyers is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the group is extended by invitation only, after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility, and collegiality.

Membership in the College can never be more than 1 percent of the total lawyer population of any state or province. The College strives to improve and elevate the standards of trial practice, the administration of justice, and the ethics of the trial profession. Qualified lawyers are called to Fellowship in the College from all branches of trial practice. They are carefully selected from among those who customarily represent plaintiffs in civil cases and those who customarily represent defendants, those who prosecute individuals accused of crime and those who defend them. The College is thus able to speak with a balanced voice on important issues affecting the legal profession and the administration of justice.

"We are very proud of Jim's election to the American College of Trial Lawyers. This honor is a fitting recognition of his many years of courtroom experience," said James D. Kelly, Dickstein Shapiro Chairman.

Mr. Murray is a partner in the Insurance Coverage Practice in the Washington, DC office of Dickstein Shapiro and is a member of the firm's Executive Committee. In 2013 and 2011, Law360 named him an MVP in Insurance Coverage (one of only two insurance coverage attorneys ever to receive this recognition twice).

Mr. Murray has two law degrees from Oxford University, a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Montana. He is a Rhodes Scholar and a 2014 recipient of the University of Montana's Distinguished Alumni Award.

Partner Steven J. Roman and Senior Counsel Robert J. Higgins are also members of the College, making Mr. Murray the third Dickstein Shapiro attorney to currently be included in the elite group.
