Anguilla: Anguillian Officials to Attend Royal Society of Fellows Conference in Miami, Florida
Last Updated: 23 March 2004

The Deputy Director of the Anguilla Financial Services Commission, Mr. Carlyle Rogers, along with the Registrar of Companies of the Government of Anguilla, Mr. Lanston Connor, will attend the 4th Annual Conference of the Royal Society of Fellows in Miami from 25th to 26th March 2004. The two-day event is being held under the theme, "Serving the Client, Protecting Yourself." Mr. Rogers will sit on a panel on the 25th March entitled: "New Legislative, Regulatory and Policy Developments in International Financial Centers."

Mr. Connor will continue to promote Anguilla as the 21st century’s jurisdiction of choice highlighting its online company registration network, ACORN. In addition, the two representatives intend to use the opportunity to highlight the continued growth of the Anguillian industry both in terms of increased company incorporations and service providers.

Anguilla continues to develop its product offerings having recently launched a comprehensive review of its trust legislation and advancing the enactment of new mutual funds, insurance (both domestic and captive) and protected cell companies legislation.

In commenting on this latest effort to speak from a regulatory perspective and to promote the jurisdiction, Mr. Rogers stated "I feel that not only should we promote Anguilla as the jurisdiction of choice for the 21st century but as a regulator, I should add to the international debate as to best practice and the regulatory regime to come. I will use my panel to discuss specifically the new FATF 40 recommendations to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism as well as to comment on the OGBS Statement of Best Practice for company and trust service providers. I feel that both regulatory regimes are important and we should discuss their impact on the industry and how best we can utilize them to make good regulation a competitive advantage as opposed to a burden for our practitioners."
