SAN FRANCISCO, July 1, 2015—Duane Morris LLP is pleased to announce the addition of three attorneys to its San Francisco office. Denis F. Shanagher has joined as a partner in the firm's Trial Practice Group and John C. (Clint) Callan, Jr. and Alice Suet Yee Barkley have joined the firm's Real Estate Practice Group as a partner and of counsel, respectively. All three join Duane Morris from McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP.

Shanagher, who chaired the commercial, employment, insurance and real estate litigation practice groups in the San Francisco office of his former firm, has handled jury trials, court trials, mediations and arbitrations for more than 30 years. He advises clients on land use and related litigation (CEQA, entitlement, subdivision map act and administrative hearings). In addition, Shanagher handles matters involving broker liability; complex construction defect; insurance coverage (advice and litigation for both policyholders and insurers); and general commercial and real estate contracts and disputes. He also has provided counsel in the areas of employment; professional negligence, emphasizing real estate agents, attorneys, accountants and insurance brokers; and directors' and officers' liability.

Shanagher earned his J.D. in 1981 from the University of California Hastings College of the Law, where he was a member of the Constitutional Law Quarterly. He graduated in 1978, with distinction, from Stanford University.

Callan advises clients on real estate transactions and land use matters for commercial, residential, retail and industrial projects. He focuses on land acquisition, disposition and development, along with the purchase, sale, finance and exchange of investment properties. In addition, Callan represents clients in matters related to commercial, office and retail leasing, as well as ground leases. He also provides counsel on loan workouts involving distressed real estate assets; San Francisco land use matters; entitling and selling transferable development rights; easement, boundary and encroachment disputes; and pre-construction matters involving contracts and shoring and excavation issues.

Callan is a 1982 graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law and a 1978 graduate of the University of California, Berkeley.

Barkley has advised clients on real estate development projects in and around San Francisco for more than 30 years. She was trained as an architect and began her legal career in the San Francisco City Attorney's office. Barkley has extensive experience developing political strategies to complement her knowledge of the Planning Code. Among her representative projects is the conversion of the Hills Brothers Coffee roasting facility to a mixed-use development of residential, office and retail space. She also worked on the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Nob Hill; the Kaiser Hospital North Wing addition; a Kaiser medical office building; the Lady Shaw Senior Center; and the Palms, a residential development.

Barkley earned a J.D. in 1977 from the University of California Hastings College of the Law and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley.
