Saint Kitts: St. Kitts Introduces Foundations Legislation
Last Updated: 16 January 2004

A new piece of legislation entitled the Foundations Act, 2003 was passed on the 18th day of September 2003 by Parliament in St. Kitts. The enactment provides for the establishment of Foundations in St. Kitts. Foundations, which are usually used in civil law jurisdictions for purposes such as estate and tax planning, will provide a new dimension to the range of services offered in St. Kitts. Other available products provided by this international financial center include trusts, limited partnerships and company formations. All of these entities may be exempted from local taxation if the nature of their business is strictly international.
