Canada: Borden Ladner Gervais Two-Time Winner of GlobalCapital Americas Derivatives Award
Last Updated: June 3 2015

Toronto (May 29, 2015) — The GlobalCapital Americas Derivatives Awards named Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) the best Canadian law firm for derivatives for the second year in a row. GlobalCapital's award program recognizes individuals, firms and deals in 30 different categories. Nominations are based on a cross-market poll and the winners are selected by GlobalCapital's editorial board.

"A second-time win of GlobalCapital's Americas Derivatives Awards Law Firm of the Year – Canada underscores the respect peers in the domestic and foreign derivatives markets have for BLG's Derivatives Group," stated Frank Callaghan, Group Head, Corporate and Capital Markets at BLG. "The team's experience enables them to help clients navigate the complex derivatives markets."

According to Global Capital, when selecting the winner for each category, the editorial panel looked for examples of market leadership, growth, exceptional client commitment and innovation.
BLG was successful in winning in its category again because it has demonstrated genuine market leadership through its leading derivatives lawyers and seemed to the judging panel to offer both deep and broad counsel.

"Our group has the expertise to advise both domestic and foreign derivatives users on the application of existing and proposed derivatives regulations in Canada," said Carol Derk, National Leader, Derivatives Group at BLG. "As Canadian derivatives lawyers, we understand the rapidly changing provincial and federal derivatives regulatory requirements in the context of global derivative reform and industry practice."

BLG's Derivatives Group is a multi-disciplinary team of lawyers across several of our practice groups. The team is experienced in negotiating derivative documentation with sell-side and buy-side market participants around the world.
