The Gibraltar International Bank Opens its Doors at New Premises

Today the Gibraltar International Bank opened for business. Chief Minister Fabian Picardo welcomed the launch as "an enormous step forward" in dealing more efficiently with the banking needs of the community, describing the new bank as "a modern, innovative institution designed to meet the needs of our community, licensed and regulated by our Financial Services Commission and independently managed by banking professionals providing an excellent service to its customers".

With plans for the Gibraltar International Bank announced in late 2013, Lawrence Podesta, the bank's appointed Chief Executive Officer, says the staff of dedicated professionals have been busy working hard to develop the bank's products over the past year; the scope of services includes current and savings accounts, overdrafts, loans and mortgages, as well as the offer of credit cards expected within the next few months. Full online banking facilities will also be made available soon, with the bank having already accepted close to 3,000 online account applications prior to the inauguration of the new premises.

The new Gibraltar International Bank is situated at Ince's House, and aside from employing modern, high-tech banking systems within the institution's infrastructure, the construction works carried out to accommodate the bank have aimed to retain the heritage value and impressive Georgian architecture of the building, revitalising the façade and the southern end of Main Street.

With more hard work ahead for Mr Podesta and his team at the Gibraltar International Bank administering to the already large influx of new customers and working to bolster lasting relationships throughout the community, they will no doubt be banking on success.
