Due to high demand, Grant Thornton LLP is rebroadcasting the webcast, Affordable Care Act: Understanding the tax and financial statement impacts. The webcast was originally broadcast on April 16, 2014. Only participants who didn't attend the original webcast will be eligible for CPE credit.

Significant tax regulations and guidance relating to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which took effect Jan. 1, 2015, may affect an organization's financial statements and tax liability, including the following:

  • The employer-shared responsibility requirements (employer mandate) may expose your organization to significant nondeductible excise taxes.
  • The ACA's complexities and related reporting requirements may require your organization to upgrade, develop or license new software to track eligibility and complete IRS forms.
  • Under ASC 450 (or IAS 37), your organization may need to record a contingent tax liability.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify which employers are subject to the employer mandate and the reporting requirements.
  • Apply the knowledge to make key decisions regarding information to collect and processes to use in collecting the information in order to mitigate your tax exposure.
  • Demonstrate how to properly fill out the new forms.

Featured speakers:

  • Eddie Adkins, partner, Washington National Tax Office, Washington, D.C.
  • Jeff Martin, senior manager, Washington National Tax Office, Washington, D.C.
  • Andy Mechavich, director, Compensation and Benefits Consulting, Chicago, Ill.
  • Carl Mowery, managing director, Compensation and Benefits Consulting, Chicago, Ill.
