United States: Aviation Partner Jeffrey Ellis Joins Clyde & Co US In New York
Last Updated: April 23 2015

April 20, 2015: Clyde & Co announced today that Jeffrey Ellis, a well-known and highly regarded aviation attorney, has joined the firm's New York office as a partner in its aviation group.

Andrew Harakas, head of the US aviation practice, said:

I have had the pleasure of being co-counsel with Jeff on many matters over the years, and I have always been impressed with his knowledge, skill and professionalism. When the opportunity arose for him to join Clyde & Co, we could not pass it up. Jeff's experience representing airlines in high profile cases is the perfect complement to our US and global aviation practice.

In recent years, Jeffrey has represented clients in some of the most complex aviation cases, including representing the interests of United Airlines in the litigation arising from the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He represented the interests of Delta Air Lines in the Swissair/Delta Flight 111 crash, Continental Airlines in the Air France Concorde crash, and Delta/Northwest in the litigation arising out of the Underwear Bomber incident

He also represents airline carriers in connection with liability and regulatory issues confronting the aviation industry on both domestic and international fronts. He consults with airlines, manufacturers, insurers and industry groups to analyze the legal and regulatory implications of issues related to federal and international aviation safety and security standards; code share, alliance and other carrier relationships; and the Montreal/Warsaw system and the Chicago Convention.

Jeffrey added:

I am excited to be joining Clyde & Co. With over 100 aviation lawyers around the world, the firm allows me to offer my clients service across the globe from lawyers who know the local legal and regulatory landscape.

Michael Knoerzer, managing partner of Clyde & Co's New York office, said:

Clyde & Co is committed to the expansion of our US aviation capability. Jeff's addition to our already strong US presence demonstrates our commitment to growth by attracting the most respected and qualified practitioners into our aviation group.

This is the latest in a series of lateral partner hires for Clyde & Co US. Last September, partner Vikram Sidhu joined Clyde & Co from Mayer Brown to lead the firm's US corporate insurance efforts. In addition, specie insurance partner Owen Carragher, international arbitration partner Brian Dunning, insurance disputes partner Bob Mangino, and maritime and environmental partner Joe Walsh have all joined Clyde & Co's US offices over the last year.
