Last Updated: 1 October 2003

Clyde & Co, the international law firm, has continued to strengthen its Middle East and Gulf operations with the recent appointment of lawyer, Rob Deans to its Dubai office.

This appointment is made as part of a vigorous recruitment and development programme. In 2002, Clyde & Co appointed three lawyers, Jane Clayton, Anna Buchly and Muneer Khan to its Corporate group and this year, to date, three further lawyers, Phil O’Riordan, Darran McGlinchey and Amjad Hussain, have been recruited to join its Corporate group and Commercial IT & IP group. Two more lawyers are expected to join the Dispute Resolution group shortly.

Rob Deans joins the Commercial IT & IP team, which is led by partner, Anthony Garrod. Rob is a specialist intellectual property lawyer with nine years’ international experience which includes advising on the commercial exploitation of intellectual property rights internationally, particularly in the media and sports sectors, the enforcement of intellectual property rights, including running anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy programmes, and managing international trade mark portfolios. He acts for a number of high profile international clients.

Rob’s experience covers numerous countries in Europe, Asia and the Middle East and he is qualified in both England & Wales and Hong Kong, where he worked with IP specialist firm Bird & Bird.

Anthony Garrod said "We opened our Dubai Media City office in July 2002 so we could be at the heart of the IT, IP and media industries in the region and continue to develop our commercial IT, IP and media practice. The arrival of Rob strengthens the Commercial IT & IP team, which has a total of 6 dedicated casehandlers and we believe that Rob’s depth of knowledge coupled with our well-established IP practice, means we have a team of the highest calibre enabling us to continue to provide our clients with an unrivalled service throughout the region."
