He brings to the role his wide knowledge of the region’s financial markets, having been in Hong Kong since 1988.

Phillip Smith said, "I am delighted to take on this new role at what is a very exciting time in the funds sector with the expanding range of products being authorised for retail distribution in Hong Kong and with the ever increasing volume of funds work emanating from mainland China. This is a great opportunity to continue to grow our flourishing funds practice."

Another new appointment in the funds practice team is Kevin Brocklehurst from Lang Michener in Canada. These appointments are a significant move that demonstrates our continued commitment to the support of JSM's funds clients and the continued expansion of JSM's funds practice.

Duncan Abate, Partner and Head of JSM's Financial Services Group said, "We are delighted that Phillip has taken on this important role as Head of Funds Practice.
