Minister of Financial Services the Hon. Tara Rivers will meet EU officials in Brussels during the week of 17 September, to continue Government's discussions regarding the EU's list of non-cooperative tax jurisdictions.
The full suite of IP laws, now in force, has resulted in additional legal expertise on island that assists companies and individuals to better protect their IP creations locally.
This trip followed her visit in April this year, when Minister Rivers attended similar meetings on Capitol Hill, and with the US Treasury and State departments.
General Registry staff are continuing to assist persons who have yet to apply to register their charitable organisations under The Non-Profit Organisation Law.
Local business owners who handle their own company's paperwork will need to file their beneficial ownership information with General Registry by Saturday, 30 June.
Cayman's global leadership in tax transparency was the focal topic during recent meetings between the Minister of Financial Services, the Hon. Tara Rivers; and high-ranking US lawmakers and regulators.
The summit represents the largest such annual gathering in Brussels.
Minister Rivers met with influential leaders in the US House of Representatives, Senate, State Department, and Treasury.
Noting that developments remain fluid, the Ministry of Financial Services gave local industry associations another update on Cayman's commitments in relation to the EU's assessment of jurisdictions' tax regimes.
Minister for Financial Services, the Hon. Tara Rivers, will be in Brussels for the week of 20 May, during which she will have meetings with EU officials, and speak on two panels that include OECD and EU participants.
Persons who have yet to register their charitable organisations under The Non-Profit Organisation Law can receive help with their application forms, ahead of the 31 July registration deadline.
As of 16 April, there were 63 registered NPOs in the Cayman Islands.
