February 15, 2019 – Canada's federal government has extended the application window for international graduates to apply for the Post-Graduation Work Permit.

Candidates are also no longer required to be holding a Study Permit to apply for a PGWP, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada announced on Thursday, February 24.

Previously, applicants had 90 days to apply after the official date of graduation.

Under new rules, the application period has been extended to 180 days, or six months.

"This allows students to have more time to submit their Post-Graduation Work Permit application once they obtain their notice of graduation from their institution," an IRCC statement said.

The changes were announced as part of an IRCC program delivery update.
