The #MeToo movement and accompanying headlines has brought increased attention to sexual harassment, violence and abuse in the workplace.

The Employment and Labour Practice Group addressed the issues causing many employers to take stock of their current policies.

  • What is the #MeToo movement? How are organizations responding to this?
  • Acceptable behavior in the workplace – intent vs. impact
  • Best practices to mitigate risk
  • Updating company policies and processes
  • How to tackle this topic and express the "right" tone
  • Duty to maintain confidentiality, including justified and permitted disclosure
  • Ethical considerations for lawyers employed in-house
  • Required conduct of lawyers arising from statute
  • Lawyers' heightened duty to prevent discrimination and uphold Human Rights legislation
