Thank you for joining us at Dentons' eighth annual CPD Bootcamp. This one-day program, available through in-person attendance or livestream, was designed exclusively for general counsel, corporate counsel and legal department managers. The comprehensive program addressed critical issues and key topics impacting businesses and in-house counsel.

Presentation materials and video are available below.

Please note: The Law Society of Ontario allows its members to view an archived CPD program/course without a colleague, for up to a maximum of six hours per year. The remainder of your CPD hours must come from other sources (in person, being an articling principal, teaching, etc.).

When the regulator comes calling - Managing regulatory risks

Description

You've just sat down at your desk with your first coffee of the day when you receive a call from your plant manager or your CEO. They have received notice from the regulator that it wants to conduct an inspection of the facility and interview employees as part of its investigation of a recent incident. You are asked to advise management as to what should be done. Alternatively, the company has received notice from the regulator that there are concerns about non-compliance with regulatory filing requirements and an operational audit will be conducted. Management wants your advice as to how to respond.

Members of Dentons Regulatory Practice Group are regularly contacted by in-house counsel in such circumstances. In this presentation, our senior regulatory lawyers will provide guidance and lessons learned from their experiences assisting clients in a variety of regulated industries.

  • The role of legal counsel (internal and external) in responding to requests and demands from regulators
