February 28, 2018 - The big news is that the Government will be spending $194.1 million over the next five years to ensure the rights of temporary foreign workers in Canada are protected and enforced through a robust compliance regime. The funds will be used to allow unannounced inspections under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, continued implementation of the International Mobility Program compliance regime, and the ongoing collection of labour market information related to open work permits.

For Canadian businesses who employ temporary foreign workers, this commitment to compliance means that you need to be vigilant in ensuring that the terms of employment for foreign workers align with their employment contracts and their Labour Market Impact Assessments.
