August 22, 2017 – More American skilled workers than Indians came to Canada on a temporary work permit under the International Mobility Program in the first half of 2017.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) figures suggest more Americans will come to Canada via IMP in 2017 than each of the last two years, supporting the idea that skilled workers could look to leave the U.S. under Donald Trump's presidency.

Some 14,835 American skilled workers were granted a temporary Canada visa under the International Mobility Program between January 1 and June 30, 2017. Over the same period, 13,670 Indians were given the same visa.

In 2016 as a whole, 30,850 were granted IMP visas, compared with 28,155 Americans.
