In a bold move to expedite the time needed to read British Columbia's laws, the government has amended section 139(1) of the Environmental Management Act SBC 2003, c. 53 (the "Act") by striking out "a director," and substituting "a director".

The section used to read:

139(1) A regulation under this Act may delegate to the minister or a director, those powers and functions that the Lieutenant Governor in Council or the minister, as applicable, considers desirable.

Effective November 17, 2015, the offending comma no longer has the force of law. No other changes were made to the Act.

Next up on the drafter's agenda - the dreaded semi-colon.
