The Ontario Ministry of Labour has announced that new "JHSC
Certification Training Standards" will come into effect in
early 2015. In the meantime, the existing Certification
Standards for Joint Health and Safety Committees, May 1996″
remain in effect.
The new standards and certification requirements would including
Part One training (general to all workplaces), which would have to
be taken from an approved training provider; and Part Two training
that would be sector-specific and would be formalized with approved
training programs taken from approved training providers.
The Ministry also anticipates that the Chief Prevention Officer
will establish new requirements that all certified members take
refresher training within three years of certification to maintain
certification status. This would be a new requirement.
