As a reminder, effective September 1, 2013 Alberta's minimum wage will increase from $9.75/hour to $9.95/hour. The increase is applicable to most employment occupations in Alberta.  For those employees that serve liquor as part of their regular job duties, the minimum wage will remain at $9.05/hour.

Other notable increases that will also take effect on September 1, 2013 are as follows:

  • the weekly minimum wage for certain salespersons and professionals will increase from $389/week to $397/week; and
  • the monthly minimum wage for domestic employees will increase from $1,854/month to $1,893/month.
