The Minister of Mines and Energy, Edison Lobão, stated on August 23, 2011 that the 11th Bid Round of the ANP (Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels) will occur only in 2012, estimated for January or February. This round was previously scheduled to take place in 2011, three years after the last round of ANP.

The bid, if approved, will offer 174 (one hundred seventy-four) exploration blocks in the nine sedimentary basins located in the equatorial margin of Brazil, with half of the blocks on land and half at the sea.

According to the Minister, the President of the Republic, Dilma Rousseff, is soon expected to approve the decision of the National Energy Policy (CNPE) establishing the completion of Bid Round 11. Still, there is no possibility that this round will be held this year.
