Recently, the Department of Trade Remedies (DECOM) of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC) has initiated new anti-dumping investigations and sunset reviews in Brazil, as follows:
(I) Anti-dumping investigation on the imports of precipitated silicon dioxide (NCM 2811.22.10) from China and India. This investigation was initiated by the SECEX Circular N. 55 on October 26,2012.
(II) Anti-dumping investigation on the imports of reduced indigo blue (NCM 3204.15.90) from China and Singapore. This investigation was initiated by the SECEX Circular N. 57 on October 30,2012.
(III) Sunset review of the anti-dumping duties applied to the imports of fresh or refrigerated garlic (NCM 0703.20.10 and 0703.20.90), from China. This review was initiated by the SECEX Circular N. 59 on November 12, 2012.
(IV) Sunset review of the anti-dumping duty applied to the imports of padlocks (NCM 8301.10.00) from China. This review was initiated by the SECEX Circular N. 61 on November 14, 2012.
(V) Sunset review of the anti-dumping duty applied to the imports of SDS plus drill bits (NCM 8207.19.00) from China. This review was initiated by the SECEX Circular N. 62 on November 21, 2012.
The anti-dumping investigations and the sunset reviews are carried out by DECOM and last approximately twelve months. The anti-dumping investigations may or may not result in the application of an anti-dumping duty to the investigated import, which will remain in force for five years. The sunset reviews may result in the maintenance of the duty at the same rate or at a different rate, or may result in the suspension of the anti-dumping duty.
The involvement of exporters and importers in these proceedings is highly recommended and may influence its final results.
