On 14 December 2015 the Australian Tax Office (ATO) announced that foreigners who own agricultural land in Australia will now have until 29 February 2016 to register their agricultural land holdings.

The ATO decided to extend the deadline (which was previously 31 December 2015) to provide foreigners with time to familiarise themselves with the new FIRB legislation which commenced on 1 December 2015.
