More streamlined visas a boost for Australian education

Streamlined visa processing arrangements will be extended to
students enrolled in advanced diploma level courses at low
immigration risk providers. Minister Morrison said the streamlining
of the visa application process for advanced diploma courses will
benefit eligible students through simpler and faster visa

Amalgamation of Migration Review Tribunal and Refugee
Review Tribunal
The federal government has announced that the Migration Review
Tribunal and Refugee Review Tribunal will be amalgamated with the
Administrative Appeals Tribunal, the Social Security Appeals
Tribunal and the Classification Review Board, and come within the
portfolio of the Federal Attorney-General's Department. The
amalgamation is planned to take effect on 1 July 2015. For more

[Draft] National Identity Proofing Guidelines - Identity
Fraud and Theft
On behalf of all Australian governments, our department is
coordinating the development of new national identity proofing
guidelines. The guidelines are designed to outline a best-practice,
risk-based approach to verifying the identity of a person (ie
identity proofing) by government agencies, particularly those which
issue documents that are commonly used. The guidelines may also be
useful for other government agencies, private sector or
non-government organisations that undertake functions that require
