A merger between David Jones and Myer would be a windfall for
shopping centre landlords and would speed the use of space
currently occupied by department stores for more profitable
retailers, according to real estate agents (31 January 2014).
Commonwealth enters temporary water trade
The Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder has announced the
details of his first foray into temporary water trading in the
Murray-Darling Basin. The Commonwealth will open tenders to trade
up to 10 gigalitres on the temporary market in the Gwydir valley in
northern NSW (20 January 2014).

Fences and boundaries matter - disputes over them are the single
largest category of problem brought to the state government's
Dispute Settlement Centre of Victoria. Last year the DSCV received
6611 fence disputes. The Fences Amendment Bill 2013, which updates
the original 1968 act is due to be passed in the Legislative
Assembly this year (01 February 2014).
