On 24th November 2013, the Government launched a new investment pathway, the Significant Investor Visa, in order to attract high net worth individuals and investors to Australia. The new investment pathway will open up doors for overseas investors seeking to immigrate to Australia, and is seen as a strong initiative to inject capital into the Australian economy. The visa also provides opportunities for fund managers to promote their investment products to visa applicants and holders, under the condition that the fund is compliant with the investment criteria, and has been certified for the purpose of the visa.
