What is happening?
The Queensland Government is proposing to repeal the Property Agents and Motor Dealers Act 2000 (Qld) (PAMDA) and split it into four separate industry specific Acts.
The draft bills (referred to as the Agents Bills 2013) are as follows:
- Property Occupations Bill 2013;
- Motor Dealers and Chattel Auctioneers Bill 2013;
- Commercial Agents Bill 2013; and
- Agents Financial Administration Bill 2013.
The draft Agents Bills 2013 include amendments to streamline warning statements in home sale contracts, reduce regulatory burden, deregulate various activities and consolidate a number of categories of licence.
Splitting PAMDA and introducing four industry specific Acts is aimed at reducing red tape and unnecessary duplication.
When are submissions due?
The Queensland Government is seeking input from stakeholders. Submissions on the draft Agents Bills 2013 may be made to the Office of Regulatory Policy by no later than 5pm on Monday 11 March 2013.
