Deadline for submissions: 11 February 2011

Late last year, the Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Ageing, the Hon Catherine King MP, announced a thorough review of the way in which the regulatory processes and decisions of the TGA are communicated. The aim of the review is to improve the transparency of the TGA which, it is thought, will in turn improve the public's confidence in the TGA.

The review panel, headed by Professor Dennis Pearce AO, is due to report the results of its review by the end of April 2011.

If your organisation is involved in the production and/or marketing of therapeutic goods, the TGA has requested you consider commenting on:

  • ways in which greater assistance could be provided by the TGA in respect of evaluation, registration, listing and/or marketing procedures; and
  • issues you may have experienced or concerns you might have regarding the transparency of the TGA decision-making and processes.

Should you have any suggestions in respect of the way in which the TGA could provide greater assistance to your organisation, have encountered issues or have concerns regarding the transparency of the TGA's processes and decision-making, the review presents an ideal opportunity for you to contribute.

Any submissions must be made by Friday 11 February 2011. Following on from this, in late February and/or early March 2011, the Panel intends to hold a series of public consultations in several cities. We will advise you of the dates and locations once they are released.
