The follow up committee of the initiatives of the UAE president approved the projects to implement directives from president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, WAM reported.

This week the committee approved the first phases of a road-building project and of a project to renovate the Sheikh Khalifa medical city in Ajman for AED30m ($8m).

The committee also set up an AED21m ($8m) project for the construction of a sewage network in the Emirate of Umm Al Qaiwain, plus another to establish an internal road network and build 168 housing units for citizens in the city of Kalba for AED15m ($4m).

Infrastructure expert Sachin Kerur of Pinsent Masons, the law firm behind Out-Law.com said: "This is a continuing pipeline of development projects in the Northern Emirates, all designed to reduce the infrastructure capacity gap there. The UAE government is clearly determined to maintain its commitment to addressing the deficit."
