An SEC final rule to consolidate and update property disclosure requirements for mining registrants was published in the Federal Register. The final rule amendments will become effective on February 25, 2019, with the exception of Rules 229.801(g) and 229.802(g) under Regulation S-K, which will become effective January 1, 2021. All registrants active in mining operations must comply with the final rule amendments on or after January 1, 2021.

As previously covered, the amendments are intended to provide investors with a more complete understanding of a registrant's mining properties. The SEC stated that the amendments will further align the agency's disclosure requirements for mining properties with current industry and global regulatory standards.
