On February 29, 2016, the Brazilian National Institute for Intellectual Property (INPI) made its trademark database available to TMview, the free online trademark search tool developed by the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM).The search tool includes information and access to around 40 million trademarks from 54 participating offices.

INPI´s database integration process started in September 2015 with the development of a test version containing information of about 80,000 trademarks. Afterwards, the bibliographic data of about 3.2 million applications and registries available on the INPI´s online search tool were added to TMView.

The integration of INPI to TMview is a result of the international cooperation program managed by OHIM in collaboration with its international partners.

Since the introduction of TMview on April 13, 2010, the tool has served more than 17.8 M searches from 151 different countries, with Spain, Germany and Italy among the most frequent users.

In January 2016, INPI joined TMclass, the international technical cooperation platform for trademarks administered by OHIM. Additionally,INPI plans to complete its integration into the DesignView database (OHIM´s search tool for industrial designs) in October 2016.

Currently, the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) is the only other Latin American IP Office that has joined TMclass, TMview and DesignView.
