November 2, 2016 – Today the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 2080 candidates to apply for Permanent Residence in Canada through Express Entry. This is the largest number of Invitations to Apply issued since the system's inception in January of 2015.  This was an impressive jump of 276 invitations from the last round. The lowest qualifying score decreased slightly to 472 points from 475 in the last round but this has made a huge difference to people in the Express Entry System. We hope that this trend continues.

Express Entry uses a comprehensive scoring system to rank prospective immigrants to Canada. Candidates are awarded up to 600 points based on a variety of factors meant to assess their ability to succeed in Canada, including age, language skill, education and work experience. An additional 600 points are awarded for holding a valid job offer supported by a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or a provincial or territorial nomination.
