The minimum wage in Alberta, currently $11.20 per hour, is set to rise to $15 per hour over the next two years. On October 1, 2016 minimum wage increased to $12.20. It will be further increased to $13.60 per hour on October 1, 2017, and will reach $15 per hour on October 1, 2018.

Certain types of sales people are entitled to a minimum weekly rate rather than a minimum hourly rate. The previous minimum of $446 per week, increased to $486 per week on October 1, 2016. It will be further increased to $542 per week on October 1, 2017, and finally $598 per week on October 1, 2018.

Employees who live primarily in their employer's home are entitled to a minimum monthly rate of $2,127 per month. This increased to $2,316 per month on October 1, 2016, and will be further increased to $2,582 per month on October 1, 2017, and $2,848 per month on October 1, 2018.
